Les Aiguilles d'Arves
Description
The highest of these peaks, the Aiguille Méridionale, rises to 3514 meters. The others are called Aiguille Centrale (3513m) and Aiguille Septentrionale, also known as Tête de Chat (3,358 m and 3,364 m).Accessible outside the snow season and depending on weather conditions. Contact the Tourist Office in advance for information on access and weather conditions.
In winter, the Chalmieu plateau is the place to be for snowshoeing in the Massif de l'Arvan-Villards.
In summer :
- 2 hiking trails to the foot of the Aiguilles d'Arves:
- Departure from the hamlet of Entraigues (1250m) in Saint Jean d'Arves + 1400 meters ascent to reach the Basse du Gerbier (2578m).
Ideal for a loop itinerary with two vehicles, or for a night's bivouac.
- Departure from the TV relay parking lot - hamlet of Chalmieu (1900m) in Albiez-Montrond +700 meters ascent to reach the Basse du Gerbier (2578m).
- Easy walk :
La Promenade Savoyarde de Découverte des Aiguilles d'Arves (PSD): Easy. Accessible to all-terrain baby carriages and people with reduced mobility. Duration: 1h30 to 2h. A trail lined with interactive terminals to discover the mountain pastures and the lives of the people who live up there.
