Avec LaRébenne

The GTAO takes you through the more westerly French Alpine mountains of Les Bauges, the Chartreuse, the Vercors, the Mont Ventoux, the Verdon and Les Maures. You tackle these on a touring bike, cycling from Lac d’Annecy to St Raphaël.

This Grande Traversée des Alpes de l’Ouest by touring bike puts the emphasis on some of the most beautiful mountain ranges in France. From Annecy, you ride south through the regional parks of Les Bauges, the Chartreuse and the Vercors, followed by the massive Verdon Gorges. You can also tackle the famed Mont Ventoux via a road that has featured many times on the Tour de France.

To finish, you ride down through beautiful Provence and the Massif des Maures, arriving at the sea at St Raphaël. In all, you cross the Alps via very pretty, peaceful roads just made for touring bikes, offering plenty of variety but avoiding too much traffic. You also get the chance to enjoy lovely, diverse local gastronomy and to explore one of the star members of the association of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France – Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.
