The great crossing of the Western Alps by road bike features some of France's most beautiful massifs. From Annecy, through the Bauges and Chartreuse parks and the Vercors, not forgetting the Verdon gorges. You can climb the famous Mont Ventoux on a route used several times by the Tour de France. 
Finally, you'll cross the beautiful Provence and the Maures massif, arriving at the sea at St Raphaël. You'll cross the Alps on pretty, quiet roads that are ideal for road biking, with little traffic and plenty of variety. It will also be a great way to discover the local gastronomy, which is not to be outdone, as well as one of the most beautiful villages in France: Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.
