Manuel, Route des Grandes Alpes® by VAE
They-they crossed the Alps and they-they tell...
Do you want to introduce yourself?
Manuel, 67 years old. I did a lot of cycling in the Alps and Pyrenees 20 to 25 years ago.
What motivated you to embark on an itinerant cycling trip in the Alps?
Now, I've redone the Route des Grandes Alpes® on an electric-assist bike. As on my previous trips, I stocked up on camping gear (tent, stove, etc.).
How did you organize yourself?
Night in campsites with a small tent. I prepared dinner myself or in restaurants.
Your best memory? Worst?
The experience of riding this magnificent route (without a day of rain). Bad experience: many of the charging stations on your list no longer exist. There are no longer any recharging stations in Le Grand Bornand (at the hotel) and Val d'Isère (tourist office). At the hotel, there is a free-access plug between the restaurant and the hotel entrance.
Your tiercé des cols?
Cormet de Roselend, Col de la Cayolle.
