What rules should you observe cycling along the route?

. Always follow the French highway code to the letter.
. Cycle well to the right, avoiding zigzagging. 
. If cycling as a group, never cycle more than two abreast.
. Always be vigilant and remain in control of your speed at all times.

 

What rules to bear in mind regarding your equipment?

. Travel light.
. Make sure your equipment is well maintained, in particular brakes, gears, tyres, lights, steering and pedals.
. Wear a hard-shell helmet that gives protection against potential head injuries should you fall.
. Make sure to carry a warm garment to avoid catching cold. 
. Make sure to wear a high-visibility jacket when cycling at dawn or dusk, away from towns, on dark days or in fog. 
. Make sure you head out each day with enough to eat and drink.

The number for the emergency services is 112. Make sure that your mobile phone is fully charged up every day, so that you have enough battery power to use it.
