Castillon pass

A mountain fragrance

Altitude 706 m

Massif des Préalpes de Nice

Department Alpes-Maritimes

Topo North side

Col de castillon - profil nord

Please note that this pass is not too long, but has a respectable average gradient of 5.5%. The D2566a, which leads more easily to Menton, has a tunnel that is forbidden to bikes. From Sospel, find the D2566 which leads to the Col de Castillon and another very short, cycle-friendly tunnel! Note that for pass hunters, the real pass is above the tunnel at 730 m altitude. On the descent, new views of the "Grande Bleue" open up.

Topo south side

Col de Castillon - profil Sud

At Menton, you're back at sea level and the counters are reset to zero to climb the Col de Castillon, which offers a nice positive vertical drop with almost 700 m. The climb is even a little long at 15 km, but the gradient is steady. It will also allow you to get away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside and start tasting the delicious scent of the mountains.
