Small dishes full of energy

There are the musts: raclette, fondue, tartiflette... Don't overdo it, or the mountains will take their revenge! Along the way, you'll come across some other great classics: diots, gratin dauphinois, tourtes, tourtons, ravioles and crozets... Don't be afraid of dishes with exotic names: berthoud, farcement, matouille, oreilles d'âne, fricassée de caïon, le barbajuan... Head south with socca, pissaladière, petits farcis...

And to finish off with some sweet treats: rissoles, merveilles, Savoy cakes and of course the Menton lemon tart.

In moderation!

When it comes to beer, it's often said that water is everything. And just as well, there's no shortage of water in the Alps. Nor is there any shortage of craft beers, of which there are plenty in every valley. You'll also find wine, with a special mention for Savoy wines, which are becoming better and better "worked" and increasingly appreciated.

Mountain charcuterie

Sausages, hams and cured meats, diots and sausages, terrines... Charcuterie is the other great specialty of the mountains. It complements raclettes, fondues and other typical mountain dishes. It's the perfect accompaniment to aperitifs (in moderation).

But also ...

Hiels and jams

At breakfast, or whenever you like, enjoy mountain honeys and jams! At altitude, flowers and fruits taste different.
